Febrile means denoting or relating to fever (elevated body temperatures). Fevers occur in response to infectious substances. A body temperature above 100 degrees Fahrenheit (37.8 degrees Celsius) or 99.6 degrees Fahrenheit (37.6 degrees Celsius) rectally, is often regarded as febrile. Febrile is also known as feverish, pyrectic, and pyretic. Febrile comes from the Latin word "febris" meaning "fever."
