Femorotibial means relating to the femur and tibia. The femur is the long bone of the leg that runs from the hip to the knee. The tibia (shinbone) is the bone that forms the lower part of the leg below the femur. Femorotibial comes from the Latin word “femur” meaning “thigh,” and the Latin word “tibia” meaning “the large shinbone.” Put the words together and you get “thigh (and) large shinbone.”
