Gastrocolic means relating to or uniting the stomach and the colon. The colon is the major part of the large intestine. The intestine is a tube shaped structure that is part of the digestive tract. It is divided into the small and large intestine. Gastrocolic comes from the Greek word "gaster" meaning "a belly," and the Greek word "kolikos" meaning "relating to the colon." Put the words together and you have "relating to the colon (and) a belly."
