Gastrorrhagia is hemorrhage from the stomach. A hemorrhage is loss of a large amount of blood in a short period of time. Gastrorrhagia is also known as gastric hemorrhage. Gastrorrhagia comes from the Greek word “gaster” meaning “the belly,” and the Greek word “rhegnymi” meaning “to burst forth.” Put the words together and you have “to burst forth (from) the belly.”
