A kinetoscope is a type of equipment that is used to record movement by taking pictures in the order that the movements occur. Kinetoscope comes from the Greek word "kinetos" meaning "movable," and the Greek word "skopeo" meaning "to examine." Put the two words together and you have "to examine (something) moveable."
