FEATURED BOOKS ON THE TEAR SYSTEM FROM BARNES & NOBLE.COM:
Lacrimotomy is an operation that involves cutting into a lacrimal canal or lacrimal sac. The lacrimal canals are curved, tube-shaped structures that tears drain into. The lacrimal sacs are hollow spaces that the lacrimal canals drain tears into. Lacrimotomy comes from the Latin word "lacrima" meaning "tear," and the Greek word "tome" meaning "incision." Put the two words together and you have "tear incision."
