Narcissism
2. Abnormal self-love, especially in one's own body. This may even include sexual attraction towards oneself.
According to a theory in psychology known as psychoanalysis, there is a part in a child's life when the self feels all powerful. According to this theory, during this stage narcissism is a normal part of a child's development that occurs when a child develops a sexual drive. This theory also states that the child develops a sexual attraction towards his/her own body and self. According to this theory, narcissism is abnormal in adults and represents the adult being stuck in an earlier stage of development, or moving back to that earlier stage for some reason. The reason may be due to the person being frustrated at realizing that he/she is not all-powerful.
Narcissism is also known as self-love. Narcissism comes from the Greek mythological character "Narcissus," who fell in love with his own reflection in the water. He was so in love with his own reflection that he fell into the water and drowned.
1. A state in which one interprets and relates everything to oneself and not to other people or things.
