Nares
Pairs of front and back openings in the nose. There are external nares, which are the openings that allow air to come into the nose. There are also internal nares, which allow the passage of air to the pharynx during breathing The pharynx is a passage that connects the back of the nose and mouth to the esophagus. The word “nare” is Latin for “nostril.”
