Onychopathy is a term for any disease, deformity, or wasting away of the fingernails or toenails. Onychopathy is also known as onychosis. Onychopathy comes from the Greek word "onyx" meaning "nail," and the Greek word "pathos" meaning "suffering." Put the words together and you have "suffering nails."
