Pachynitic means relating to pachynsis which is an old, rarely used term for any abnormal thickening. Pachynitic comes from the Greek word "pachynsis" meaning "a thickening," and the Greek word "ikos" meaning "pertaining to." Put the words together and you have "pertaining to a thickening."
