Secret Agents: The Menace of Emerging InfectionsInfectious Diseases in 30 Days

A reinfection is a second infection by the same microorganism, either during or after the original infection. A microorganism is a tiny organism made of one cell that is usually too small to be seen without using a microscope. Reinfection comes from the Latin word “re” meaning “again,” and the Latin word “inficere” meaning “to stain.” Put the words together and you have “to stain again.”
