Unstable scar
A type of tissue that replaces normal tissue destroyed by injury or disease. An unstable scar is one in which, for any reason, there is a frequent loss of skin covering the scar. Unstable scars are sometimes seen in burn injuries. Unstable scar comes from the old English word "un" meaning "not," the Latin word "stabilis" meaning "firm," and the Greek word "eschara" meaning "scab." Put the words together and you have "not firm scab."
