Valid
Effective. Something that is valid will produce the results that are desired. Something that is valid will also be verified to be true. For example, if a pain medication is valid, this means that it is effective because it reduces pain, which is its desired result. By reducing pain, it is verified to be true that the drug is what its manufacturers claim it to be (a pain reducing medication). To validate is to make something valid. Validity is a measure of how valid something is. Valid comes from the Latin word "valeo" meaning "to be strong."
