Web
A group of fibers and cells that form a tissue or membrane in animals or plants, and usually connect spaces together. A cell is the smallest, most basic unit of life, that is capable of existing by itself. A membrane is a thin layer of flexible tissue that covers something.

You may have heard of the expression "webbed feet" when people describe ducks. This is because the web connects the spaces between their toes. Web comes from the Old English word "webb" meaning "woven fabric."
