Xanthochromic
Yellow-colored or having a yellow discoloration. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is sometimes described as xanthochromic. The CSF is a cushiony fluid that protects the brain and spine. Blood and bile (a bitter, yellow-green substance released from the liver) can cause the CSF to appear yellow. Normally, CSF appears clear. Xanthochromic is also known as xanthochromatic. Xanthochromic comes from the Greek word "xanthos" meaning "yellow," the Greek word "chroma" meaning "color," and the Greek word "ikos" meaning "pertaining to." Put the three words together and you get "pertaining to yellow color."
