Zooglea
An old term used in the study of bacteria that means a group of bacteria that are held together by a clear jelly-like substance. Zooglea comes from the Greek word "zoon" meaning "animal," and the Greek word "glia" meaning "glue." Put the words together and you have "animal glue."
